Safeguarding and Welfare Requirement: Information and Records

Providers must maintain records and obtain and share information to ensure the safe and efficient management of the setting, and to help ensure the needs of all children are met.

10.2 Admissions

Policy statement

It is our intention to make our setting accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community. We operate an inclusion and equality policy, and we aim to ensure that all sections of our community have access to the setting through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures.

Procedures

  • We ensure that the existence of our setting is widely advertised in places accessible to all sections of the community.

  • We ensure that information about our setting is accessible and provided in written and spoken form.

  • Where necessary, we will try to translate material and provide information in Braille, or through British Sign Language.

  • We operate a free waiting list and parents are encouraged to book early for places. At the time when the booking can be confirmed a registration fee of £30 is required from fee-paying parents to secure the place. Those applying for just the funded hours will not be charge a registration fee.

  • Our admissions policy is on a first come, first served basis but with the following exceptions:

  • Current children wishing to increase or change sessions are given priority over children on the waiting list.

  • Children under social care are given priority.

  • siblings of children already attending the setting given next priority.

  • Before a child attends the Ark Preschool and Daycare parents must:

  • Supply a copy of their child’s birth certificate.

  • Sign a Parent Contract – stating the hours your child will attend. This is an agreement with the London Borough of Bromley to allow us to claim the government funded place.

  • Sign our terms and conditions in our registration form. The registration form provides the setting with personal details relating to the child. For example, name, date of birth, address, emergency contact details, parental responsibilities, dietary requirements, collection arrangements, fees and sessions, contact details for parents, doctor’s contact details, health visitor’s contact details, allergies, parental consent and vaccinations etc.

  • Providing government funded places

    • 2 year old funding ( U2YOW, TF2YO,2YOW ), 3-4 year old ( UNIVERSAL EXTENDED )15 hours and extended entitlement of further 15 hours for 38 weeks per year.

    • All funded sessions are in line with the Government’s Statutory Guidance and Local Authority requirements.

    • We do not place restrictions on the amount of funded or private spaces.

  • We welcome both fathers and mothers, other relations and other carers, including childminders.

  • We treat each child and their family fairly, having regard to their needs arising from their gender, special educational needs, disabilities, social background, religion and ethnicity or from English being a newly acquired additional language.

  • We take into consideration the opening times of the setting to ensure we accommodate a broad range of families' needs.

  • We are flexible about attendance patterns to accommodate the different needs of our families, providing these do not disrupt the pattern of continuity in the setting that provides stability for all the children.

  • We give parents the option to bring in their own consumables. We do not make it compulsory to pay for the Ark preschool consumables.
